Claims Operation Analyst

My client, a well-respected Lloyds syndicate is looking to recruit a Claims Operations Analyst in this newly created position

The successful candidate will provide timely, accurate and relevant information for the Group Claims function.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, this will involve working closely with the Group Claims Director and the three divisional claim Heads responsible for the Property, Casualty, Marine, Aviation and Political Risk divisions.

The role is to provide management and regulatory data, reports and presentations relative to the syndicates claims portfolio. An ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines and experience using database management tools are essential.

Main Tasks

  • Working with various database extracts to deliver information using Excel, PowerPoint, Word and SQL
  • Detailed understanding of databases (CRS, ECF2, IMR, IRIS, RiskWrite, CRM Dynamics & Swordfish)
  • Co-ordinate and produce monthly operational metrics for the Group Claims Committee
  • Assist in the preparation of various board papers e.g. trading divisions, F&O Committee, Reserving Committee and Exco
  • Monitor, record and report notable claims considered by the Claims Management Group or triggered by a Major Loss Protocol
  • Support the production of regulatory information and other MI as required e.g. loss fund information, peer review analysis, expert fee spend and other third party costs
  • Undertake 'deep dive’ analysis to identify trends and changes within the portfolio
  • Proactively develop and standardise the overall Claims MI capability
  • Display information in a clear, concise format to include tables, graphs, charts and reports, consistent with the Data Policy
  • Use formal reporting mechanisms to promptly notify relevant parties of any perceived new risks or failures of existing control measures
  • At all times consider the effect of any actions taken on the customers with the intention of improving their experience


  • Educated to at least A-level standard, one of which must be in a numerical or scientific discipline
  • Up to two years’ experience in an analytical role within the Insurance industry
  • Previous experience working within a Lloyd’s claims function an advantage but not essential Technical Knowledge
  • Familiarity with basic statistical concepts
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel required
  • MS Access & SQL knowledge
  • Knowledge of Lloyd’s, FCA and PRA compliance requirements and procedures
  • Working knowledge of Lloyd’s market systems, processes and procedures
  • Ability to analyse data and present information in a clear and concise fashion relevant to each audience
  • Numerate, analytical and solution focused
